“Jeannie, My Guru” was a proposed sequel to I Dream of Jeannie that never made it past the pilot stage. It would have reunited Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman, reprising their roles as Jeannie and Major Tony Nelson, but with a new dynamic. The concept revolved around Jeannie acting as a mystical advisor (or “guru”) in modern society, helping people with their personal and professional troubles using her magical abilities.
However, the project never moved forward for various reasons, including Hagman’s lack of involvement—by that time, he was deeply involved with Dallas. The idea was later reworked into I Dream of Jeannie… Fifteen Years Later (1985) and I Still Dream of Jeannie (1991), though Hagman did not return for those either.
