Born 1929 at Gillingham, Kent, British fashion photographer John Cowan was known for his dynamic photographic style which reflected the energetic atmosphere of 1960s Swinging London.

Cowan was a leading fashion photographer during the 1960s. Among the magazines and newspapers he worked for were Vogue, Queen, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, The Observer, The Sunday Times, the Daily Express and the Sunday Express, the Daily Mail, and the Daily Mirror.
Cowan died in 1979 of cancer in East Hagbourne, Oxfordshire, aged 50. These stunning photos are part of his work that John Cowan took fashion portraits of classic beauties in the 1960s.
